This section describes how to load the SafeSFS Product code to a work disk in preparation of installing SafeSFS.
Step 1: Review the README.TXT file on the SafeSFS Product diskette or Product tape.
Instructions contained in the readme file add to or supercede the instructions listed here.
Step 2: Obtain a work mdisk of 1800 4K blocks or larger.
The mdisk may be a TDISK or SFS Directory if desired. Format the mdisk using the CMS FORMAT command.
Note: If you are loading the SafeSFS product from a diskette continue with Step 3 below. If you are loading the SafeSFS product from a tape cartridge see the alternate Step 3, "Loading the SafeSFS Product from a Cartridge Tape", at the end of this section.
Step 3: Load the SafeSFS Product Code from the SafeSFS Product Diskette:
Use a PC file transfer program to transfer the SAFE120.VMA file from the SafeSFS diskette to the work mdisk as file SAFE120 VMARC. Perform the transfer in "binary" mode.
Step 4: Load the SafeSFS HTML Documentation from the SafeSFS Product Diskette:
Use a PC file transfer program to transfer the SAFEHTM.VMA file from the SafeSFS diskette to the work mdisk as file SAFEHTM VMARC. Perform the transfer in "binary" mode.
Step 5: Issue the command:
PIPE < SAFE120 VMARC fm | FBLOCK 80 | > SAFE120 VMARC fm
Where fm is the CMS filemode of the work mdisk
Step 6: Run VMARC to unpack all of the files in the archive to the work disk.
Issue the command VMARC UNPK SAFE120 VMARC fm = = fm to unpack the SafeSFS product files to the work mdisk accessed as file mode fm. The command VMARC LIST SAFE120 VMARC fm may be used to list the files in the archive.
The SafeSFS product code has now been loaded. Continue the installation process by following the steps in the next section, "Install the SafeSFS Server".
Note: The VMARC utility is a publicly available program that may be downloaded from various sites on the internet. The VMARC utility may be downloaded from URL: http://www.marist.edu/~workshop/vmarc.html.
Alternate Step 3: Loading the SafeSFS Product from a Cartridge Tape
Use the CMS TAPE LOAD command, load the SafeSFS code from the SafeSFS cartridge tape to the work mdisk. Issue the following commands.
ATTACH cuu * 181
TAPE LOAD * * fm
Cuu is the real address of the tape drive containing the SafeSFS Product Tape
Fm is the filemode of the work mdisk from the previous step.
After loading SafeSFS from the tape cartridge return to Step 5 earlier in this section.
